Nationwide Invitation to Prayer
WHAT
Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Bishop Michael F. Burbidge, Chairman of the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities announced a nationwide invitation to prayer.
On March 26, 2024 the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a case that has the potential to make a major impact in the widespread accessibility of chemical abortion (abortion pills). Chemical abortions are now the most common form of abortion in the United States.
The USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities is inviting Catholics to join a focused effort of prayer for the end of abortion and for the protection of women and pre-born children, beginning on March 25, the eve of the oral arguments, and the anniversary of St. John Paul II’s landmark, pro-life encyclical, The Gospel of Life (Evangelium vitae).
HOW
Offer this Prayer to St. Joseph, Defender of Life daily:
Dearest St. Joseph, at the word of an angel, you lovingly took Mary into your home. As God’s humble servant, you guided the Holy Family on the road to Bethlehem, welcomed Jesus as your own son in the shelter of a manger, and fled far from your homeland for the safety of both Mother and Child.
We praise God that as their faithful protector, you never hesitated to sacrifice for those entrusted to you. May your example inspire us also to welcome, cherish, and safeguard God’s most precious gift of life.
Help us to faithfully commit ourselves to the service and defense of human life —especially where it is vulnerable or threatened. Obtain for us the grace to do the will of God in all things. Amen.
WHEN
March 25, 2024 through June 2024, when a decision is expected.

From the Pastor: April 28, 2024 - Vine and Branches
I am the vine; you are the branches… whoever remains in me will bear much fruit. These are more of the wonderful words Jesus spoke to His disciples at the Last Supper. He also warns that those who don’t “remain” in Him will be cast into the fire. In our second reading, his first letter, St. John clarifies what it means to “remain” in Christ: “We keep His commandments and do what pleases Him.” And he even specifies what God’s primary commandment to us is: that we believe in Him and love one another.” Of course, the meaning of “to believe” is “to obey” (Jn 3:36).
Many philosophies and lifestyles are gaining great acceptance and being promoted by our culture today. Some have drastic consequences for the individual, both here and in eternity, and also for our families and society. For we are all connected, all growing in the vineyard of humanity. Cross-pollination can lead to disastrous ramifications in our ability to be fruitful: to love and be loved as God desires. It can often be difficult to discern the true loving response when our society hammers us with philosophies such as to each his own, despite the alignment the choice may have or lack with God’s teachings.
We have a great opportunity to protect and ensure our loved ones remain well-nourished branches of the vine from June 10th to 21st as we hold our PSR Summer Program. Many volunteers are needed, from playground supervisors to instructors. Please contact Mrs. Jackie Bailey if you are interested in being the Good Shepherd for our precious flock God has blessed us with.
Also, please return your pledge notices to the St Anne office, even if you are not participating, so that we may firmly establish our position. As always, please contact Fr. Eddie or another member of our team if you have any questions. Our team includes Lindsey Wells, Cyril and Renee Richard, Rene Daze, DJ Loland, Henry Blanchard, Poonie Templet, Ernie Blanchard, Sam Triche, and Jay Brein.
Blessings,
Fr. Eddie

"Communication is a means of expressing the missionary vocation of the entire Church; today the social networks are one way to experience this call to discover the beauty of faith, the beauty of encountering Christ. In the area of communications too, we need a Church capable of bringing warmth and of stirring hearts" -Pope Francis
